3D Scanning, Design & Drafting Services
About
Over the past 10 years I have gained an understanding of what is required to capture and present , with the use of Computer Aided Design, the detail required to repair and maintain machinery in the local Pulp and Paper Mills, Sawmills, Power companies (both hydro and geothermal) and Naval projects.

Throughout the design process there are a number of challenges, gathering the information takes 30 to 40% of the design time, where parts or equipment are worn, broken or in an assembled state. Investing in and gathering good information early on provides a foundation for a robust design and lasting result.

As a result I have now invested in the Metra Scan from Creaform. It is a highly accurate 3D scanning device that has the ability to capture data, the software that comes with the scanner is able to process that data into STL. files as well as surface models which are able to be further processed with Solidworks or Auto CAD Inventor into 3D solid models.

Examples:
Out dated machinery, such as gearboxes, motors and pumps which are no longer in manufacture, can be scanned accurately to provide the information to reverse Engineer the parts. The interface of the plant/machinery can be scanned and by using CAD, and online model tool libraries provided by the modern motor, gearbox and pump suppliers, the parts can be aligned with ease. When reproducing replacement parts your mind will be at ease knowing they will fit, saving time.
For checking worn parts, such as screw conveyors, impellers and pump housings, the Metra Scan can identify the areas which are needed to be built up and, with the use of the Creaform software, the data can be overlaid with the original designed to see how worn the part is from new.

In conclusion my main aim is to provide information for you to make calculated decisions, saving valuable time and money.

Yours sincerely
